COOKIE POLICY

Last updated: June 5, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how iBetu (ibetu.app) uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies when you use our platform. We keep it simple: we only use essential cookies required to keep you signed in.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site owner. iBetu uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies to keep you signed in and to ensure the Platform functions correctly.

2. How We Use Cookies

iBetu uses cookies strictly for the following purposes:

  • Authentication: We store an auth token in a browser cookie to keep you signed in across page visits. This cookie is essential for the Platform to function and is set only after you log in.
  • Security: We use session-level cookies to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other security threats.
  • Preferences: We may store lightweight preference values (e.g. sound or notification settings) in browser local storage.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

Essential cookies only — we do not use any advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies.

  • auth-token (cookie): Keeps you logged in. Expires after 7 days or when you sign out. Required for authenticated access.
  • Local storage keys: Used for UI preferences such as sound settings. Cleared when you clear your browser data.

4. Third-Party Cookies

iBetu does not place third-party advertising or analytics cookies on your device. Some embedded third-party services we use (such as Stream for real-time chat) may set their own cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies. We have no control over these cookies and recommend reviewing the privacy policies of those services if you have concerns.

5. Cookie Duration

The auth-token cookie has a maximum lifespan of 7 days, after which you will need to sign in again. You can remove it at any time by signing out of your account, which immediately deletes the cookie from your browser.

6. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that disabling the auth-token cookie will prevent you from staying signed in to iBetu. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
